After my relentless four-year campaign, the Adelaide City Council finally acted to buy the Le Cornu site. Now it’s time to revitalise all of North Adelaide
As Lord Mayor my priorities will be to
Develop the Le Cornu site as the ;North Adelaide Town Square’, with a park gardens and trees, and at least two levels of Council-owned underground car parking for at least 1500 cars. This car parking would benefit North Adelaide residents and traders and generate immense income for Council over decades.
Secure the extension of the tram to the new ‘North Adelaide Town Square’.
Ensure new infill development in North Adelaide is of high quality, and compatible with the scale and character of existing buildings and streetscapes, with adequate parking,
Re-introduce a meaningful owner-occupier residential rate rebate to encourage an increased percentage of owner-occupier residents who have long-term commitment to their properties and the area.
Upgrade neglected roads and footpaths, and underground electricity in North Adelaide; and plant large shade trees, particularly along Melbourne Street.
Protect our wonderful heritage buildings by providing higher heritage restoration incentives as well as a heritage rate rebate to the owners of listed properties.
