Given that the former state government focused on developments around the Riverbank precinct and North Terrace, Council must address the needs of the residents and businesses throughout the city.
As Lord Mayor, my priorities will be to
Ensure new infill development in the South East is of high quality, and compatible with the scale and character of existing buildings and streetscapes, with adequate car parking
Re-introduce a meaningful owner-occupier residential rate rebate to encourage an increased percentage of owner-occupier residents who will have a long-term commitment to their properties and the area
Upgrade roads and footpaths, underground electricity in all residential and commercial streets, plant large avenues of shade trees
Protect our wonderful heritage buildings by providing higher heritage restoration incentives as well as a heritage rate rebate to the owners of listed properties
Support and promote the unique nature and appeal of Hutt Street precinct. After decades of success, Hutt Street is struggling with record retail vacancies and anti-social behaviour
Address restrictions that make driving and parking ridiculously frustrating in a city of Adelaide’s size. Let’s undo the traffic gridlock.
Make the Frome Street bikeway work. It can be done!
