I am a former Councillor and Deputy Lord Mayor who, as a very young man during the 1980s and 90s, was proud to be part of successive Councils that made a real difference in painstakingly planning and shaping the future of the City, North Adelaide and our unique Park Lands.
From 2010 to 2014, I returned to Council for a four-year term and frankly was horrified by what I discovered. Despite the commitment and hard work of many individuals, it had simply lost its way. The situation has gone from bad to worse during the current Council term, with Council effectively losing its planning policy and development assessment role; and the demolition prohibition protecting local heritage buildings in much of the Square Mile being removed.
I am ready, willing and more than able to turn things around again. I offer:
In-depth knowledge of what Council can and should be doing.
Significant experience working with state government, including roles on the State Heritage Authority, the City of Adelaide Planning Commission and the Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
Extensive knowledge of how the City and North Adelaide work and a strong business background. I am a commercial lawyer with Masters degrees in law and business.
A local’s commitment. I live in North Adelaide, run a legal business in the city and am passionate about Adelaide not wasting its current opportunity to be a world-class mid-size city.
